Digestion
Over two thousand years ago, Hippocrates boldly stated that “All diseases begin in the gut”. Scientific research now shows that he was right and that having a healthy digestion does impact many health conditions in the body.
Digestion conditions are often painful and embarassing. So many of my clients with IBS can’t leave the house without knowing exactly where the nearest bathroom is. Or going out for dinner is stressful because you never know what food on the menu will trigger a reaction. Or they wake up with a flat tummy but look six months pregnant by the afternoon.
We all know that symptoms like heartburn, IBS, constipation, candida and diarrhea are linked to an imbalanced digestion but did you know that 60% of our immune system sits alongside the inside wall of the gut and the 90% of the serotonin in our bodies is made by the gut bacteria.
We are not just what we eat, we are what we absorb from our food, so having a well balanced digestive system relieves the discomfort of bloating and heartburn, it can also support better mood and a stronger immune system.
In this talk, Catherine delves into the best eating habits to optimise your digestion – for many people it’s not what they eat, but how they eat it that causes discomfort. A really good example of this is when you feel tired or heavy or bloated after meals. She also looks at foods to include in your diet to support good gut and overall health and which foods are best avoided.
